Mrs. Mary Leonora Thomas passed away in Salinas on Aug. 6th at the age of 87. Born in Cadiz, Kentucky on Aug. 19, 1921 she had lived in Watsonville for 55 years. She was a member of the Corralitos Community Free Methodist Church and volunteered at the YWCA thrift shop. Leonora’s greatest joy was her family and as the oldest sister of 13 children she is lovingly remembered as the family caregiver.

Leonora is survived by sons Gary (Carol) Thomas of Aromas and Ron Thomas; brothers Christopher Wilson of Richmond and Lyman Wilson of Orange; sisters Virginia Cadiente of Watsonville and Margaret Hopper of Galt, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 yrs Woodrow Thomas in 1988 and nine siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Corralitos Community Free Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Leonora’s Memory to the American Heart Association 1514 Moffett Street Salinas, CA 93905 or the Corralitos Community Free Methodist Church, 26 Browns Valley Road, Corralitos, CA 95076

Davis Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
