Mrs. Mary Louise (Funk) Barlup, 70, of 23 North Franklin Street, Waynesboro, PA entered into eternal rest at 6:25 A.M. Sunday. October 11, 2009 in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA, following a short illness. Mrs. Barlup was born on April 15, 1939 in Waynesboro; she was the daughter of the late Ray Dysen and Mildred Irene (Stouffer) Funk. She was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area. Mary Louise attended the Waynesboro Schools. She and her husband of over 54 years, Mr. Darrell B. Barlup, were married on November 13, 1954 in Hagerstown, MD. They moved to the present residence in 1964. Mrs. Barlup was employed as a waitress in her early years at the former Texas Lunch Place on Main Street in Waynesboro; she then worked at Connie's Sportswear as a presser and then a floor lady. She then worked at Waynesboro Knitting Mill in Waynesboro and then E.J. Fennel's of Hagerstown, both as a floor lady. Prior to retiring in 1998, she was a press operator at Regency Thermographics in Waynesboro. As a young lady, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1758 Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro and the national AARP. Mrs. Barlup was an avid bingo player, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, and going camping up state at their cabin. In addition to her husband, she is survived by the following children, Darrell R. Barlup of Waynesboro; Brenda L. Kneasel of Waynesboro; Tina L. (husband William) Wile of Chambersburg; Kenneth L. (wife Colette) Barlup of Zullinger; Timothy A. (wife Jackie) Barlup of Waynesboro,; Deborah K. (husband Chad) Hollingshead of Greencastle, PA, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one sister, June Harbaugh of Hagerstown, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale L. Barlup who died January 10, 1963, two grandsons, Anthony R. Barlup who died April 15, 1998 and Thriften D. Barlup who died March 16, 2008. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday. October 14, 2009 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with Rev. Donald E. Conley officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mount Zion Cemetery near Mont Alto. There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
