Mary M. Heintz (nee Paytas), 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Mrs. Heintz was born into a Hungarian family in 1918 in Fairview Park, Ohio on the farm that ran from Lorain Rd. to Center Ridge Rd. That property is now Bohlken Park. Her family (Paytas) were founding members of St. Angela Merici Parish. Mary attended St. Angela School and Fairview High School and lived all but 5 years of her life on W. 210th St. next door to the family home her dad built in 1927. Mary had 3 brothers and 3 sisters, of which a brother and a sister were in the religious life. Mrs. Heintz married her first husband (a veteran of Pearl Harbor) in August, 1945 and had 2 children: Betty and Jim. Ralph passed away, December 23, 1957, leaving Mary to raise her children and work at her brothers greenhouse with her mother and children. That greenhouse was located where Addington and W. 210th Street are now. Mary married John in August, 1964 automatically adding 3 daughters to her family. John passed away in 1991. Her career began with working at the Bomber Plant during the war and later as a secretary at Cardinal Federal Bank. She loved to cook, especially stuffed cabbage, chicken paprikash and apple pie. In more recent years, she made a point to never say no to an invitation to eat out. Her social calendar was always full. For the last four years, the winter months were spent in Florida where she was "mom" to everyone in the park. She loved playing bingo twice a week and enjoyed eating out whenever asked. Mary has always had a good appetite, loved life to the fullest, and never had an unkind word to say. She loved her family, especially the grandchildren and always remembered special occasions with a greeting card. She will be dearly missed. Mary was the beloved wife of the late John Heintz and the late Ralph E. Thompson; loving mother of Betty Glancy (Bob), James Thompson (Nancy), Carole Harris, and the late Nancy Ternovan and Lois Heintz; grandmother of James Glancy, Debbie Metro, Scott Harris (Tricia), Sandy Drotos, Tiffany Smith, Monica Ternovan, Christopher Ternovan (Halle), Robert Glancy, and the late Anthony Ternovan; great-grandmother of JJ and Matthew Drotos, Madeline, Julia, Grace, Audrey and Connor Smith, Ty Sumner, Gaylon Spencer, Ted, and Lydia Glancy; dear sister of the late Julia Hoprich, Fr. Bartholomew Paytas, S.A. Paul, Frank and Sister M. George Paytas, CSA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be forwarded to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St. Cleveland, Oh. 44119 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050. Prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Saturday, October 29, at St. Angela Merici Church, 20970 Lorain Rd. in Fairview Park.
