Mary Margaret Wiegand

Mrs. Mary Wiegand passed away peacefully on January 3, 2012 in Long Beach, CA. Mrs. Wiegand was born in Sanford, Maine on October 10, 1922 to Richard C. Morley and Nora C. Pollitt.
She leaves behind her daughters Marla Wiegand, Marie (Paul) Elliott and son Lane (Beverly) Wiegand and grandsons Chris and Jon Elliott. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Hank.
Mary's family moved to Santa Monica, CA where she grew up on the ocean and became an expert swimmer. She remained a Beach Girl her entire life.
Hank and Mary married in January, 1943 while Hank was enlisted in the Army Air Force. They settled in Long Beach and Mary's life was devoted to raising their three children. She was a living example of faith, love, devotion, patience, forgiveness, kindness and generosity. She delighted in caring for her two grandsons and watching them grow. Mary loved being a volunteer at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center (LBMMC) for over 30 years, where she continued to give selflessly of her time and love. Mary was an avid reader, seamstress, cookie maker, wound healer and amazing needlepoint artist. Her warm smile and kind words will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
