Elderess Mary Nell Sample was born on the 14th day of July in the year of 1947 in the city of St. Louis, state of Missouri to the union of Reverend Amos Campbell and Rusie Mae Campbell. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age, where she was baptized and united with the Baptist Church. She and her Family were united with Mt Sinai Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor R.L. White, in East Saint Louis, Illinois. On January 26, 1973, she met and married Elder Oscar Sample Jr. and to this union one son and two daughters, Cortez Miller, Tamara Sample and Cynthia Jones. In 1973, she united with New Sunny Mount Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor, Reverend Donald Hunter. Later she united with Bridgeton Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor, William H. Banks. Elderess Mary Sample was a Faithful Servant Christian Woman. She was a part of the Women Missionary, Mother Board, Choir, and later was called into the Ministry. She was always Full of Joy and was an Encouraging Mentor too many. She Loved the Lord. She attended East St. Louis Senior High School where she graduated in the Honors Society. She received a Scholarship, to attend National Baptist Theology Seminar, in Nashville Tennessee, were she graduated with her Bachelors Degree, with Top Honors and was on the Dean's List. Later to attend SIU Edwardville and Harris Stowe College in which she received her Teacher's Certificate. Elderess Mary Sample taught 31 years in the Special School District of St. Louis County and where she later retired. She leaves to mourn her passing a Devoted Husband, Oscar Sample Jr.; one sister, Mrs. LaVern Stewart; and one son, Cortez Miller; two daughters, Tamara Sample and Cynthia Jones; one brother-in-law, Robert Stewart of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Miller; and one son-in-law, Emmanuel Jones; grandchildren, Dionte and Emani; a host of additional grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
