Mary Elizabeth Owens

Mary Elizabeth Owens, 68 of Sophia passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Beckley after a long illness. Born September 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia White Melton.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Walter Owens.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Kenneth J. Owens of OK, David Owens of NC; daughter Virginia L. Welch of Mabscott; 3 brothers, John Melton of MO, James Melton of Tacoma, Washington, and Jack Melton of Sophia; sister Rose Melton Black of NC. Mary also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sadly missed.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Hot Coal Cemetery.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday from 12 – 2 PM at the funeral home.
