When my husband had been in the hospital Mary always called after we got home to see how the two of us were doing. She was one special lady that was very proud of her family... We at Melrose-Wakefielld Hospital were blessed the day Mary came to volunteer. Mary was sweet right from the beginning but as the years went by she became invaluable to all of us for her talent and personality. She was truly a star and we will always miss her shiny glow.

On a personal note, Mary and I became good friends. She helped me so many times and, I only hope I did a little of the same back. I will miss her and courage and friendship.

The picture on this page is exactly the way I remember “Mary from Melrose.” When I was growing up, it was fun to see cousins Mary, Mike, Cathy, Michael, and the whole Cali bunch at the get-togethers my grandparents held in their little pink house in Methuen. Mary’s big laugh and broad smiles always brightened the day. We grieve her passing, but I think Mary must have gotten an invite to a joyous reunion in heaven with our family’s previous generation, and with her beloved son, Michael. If you imagine the big Italian welcome she must have received from all those loud, loving people, you have to smile.

I remember all the good times at Grammy and Grandpa Coppola's house with the extended family, including the Simonellis ... eating lasagna, turkey, meat pie and, sometimes, all of them for one meal! I guess it's because we had more than one Mary in the family, but Mary Simonellli will forever be known to me as "Mary from Melrose." It has a nice ring to it. My heartfelt condolences to all of Mary's family and friends. -- X Keri

Mary was my dear, sweet cousin. We shared so many wonderful and funny memories by phone, in the recent past. Her family was her constant source of pride and so much joy. We will miss you so very much!
