Mary Violet Kitcho, age 97, a lifetime resident of West Scranton, died peacefully Sunday evening with her daughters by her side. Her husband, the late William Kitcho preceded her in death. Born on December 17, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Stancheski Czarnecki. She loved spending time with her family. Her greatest joy came in sharing stories with her great-grandchildren about living through the perils of three wars. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed. She is survived by three children, Leona Kulesa of Scranton, Lorraine Padavan of New Albany, and Carl Pacholec of Taylor; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Brothers, William and Henry Czarnecki; and a sister, Helen Lescenski, also preceded her in death. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00AM in St. Ann's Basilica, 1233 Saint Ann Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Jones, C.P. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church on Saturday from 9:30AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Avenue, Scranton, 18509. Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Avenue, Scranton, 18504.
