Mr. Matias "Matt" Castillo , Senior On December 4, 2011 at 5:30 PM, Pacific Standard Time, Matias Castillo, Sr. passed away at the age of 82, due to heart failure in the Victorville home he owned for 51 years with his wife. He was peacefully surrounded by his wife and many of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at his side. He was born August 12, 1929 in Valencia, New Mexico, USA and was a California resident for 58 years residing in Victorville for 50 years. He was employed at Kaiser Cement in Lucerne Valley for 29 years and also was a foreman for Union Pacific Railroad. Matias was a Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in post-war occupied Germany; and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Parish in Victorvile. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Mary Castillo, , daughter, Monica Savedra (husband, Leo), Hesperia, CA, son , Matias Castillo, Jr. (wife, Lisa), Waldon, Iowa, son, Jimmy G. Castillo (Wife, Dorothy), Hesperia, CA son, Ernie Castillo (wife, Patsy), Clarkston, Michigan, son, Lee Castillo, Ramona, CA, son, John Castillo (wife, Sue), Fountain Valley , CA, daughter, Dehlia Castillo, Victorville, CA, son, Andrew "Andy" Castillo (wife, Pam), Pennyslvania, daughter, Geraldine "Gerry" Gallegos (husband, Randy, deceased), 26 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David Castillo (wife, Lydia). A visitation will be on Wednesday, December 7th from 4-8 PM at the Roy Rogers Dale Evans Chapel at Sunset Hills, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307 with a Rosary beginning at 6 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, December 8th at 10:0 A.M> at St.Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 15512 6th Street, Victorville , CA followed by burial at Desert View Memorial Park, 11500 Amargosa Rd., Victorville, CA 92392 Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling the arrangments.
