Matthew J. Douaihy, age 41, of Scranton passed away unexpectedly Monday morning of natural causes. Born in Scranton on Nov. 3, 1970, to Said "Cy" and Jane Jenkins Douaihy of Scranton. Matthew graduated from Scranton Tech in the Class of 1990, and most recently worked in maintenance for the Scranton School District. He was a lifelong member of St. Ann Maronite Church in Scranton, and a member of its Holy Name Society. Matthew in his passing was an organ donor with the Gift of Life program. Known to his close friends as "Otis", he was a fixture in the Green Ridge Corners, and he was an avid baseball fan. His jovial attitude was a constant and his friendships and family were the bedrock of his life. He had a very special friendship with his feline partner Roscoe. He is survived by his brother Douglas, with whom he resided and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jack T. & Sue Jenkins; and his paternal grandparents, Joe & Dorothy "Cissie" Tobin Douaihy. Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 9:45 AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc, 125 North Main Ave., Scranton; with a Mass of Divine Liturgy at St. Ann Maronite Church located at the corner of Sumner Ave. and Price St. in West Scranton to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Marini, Pastor. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1-4:00PM and 7-9:00PM. Incense services will be conducted at 6:30PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Matthew's name to St. Ann Maronite Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
