Matthew A. Winter, 26 of Fargo, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Matt was born January 28, 1987 in Fargo, North Dakota to Dan and Carol (Bliss) Winter. He lived in Mapleton, ND until 1983 and then attended West Fargo schools until he graduated in 2005. Growing up, Matt was a member of Boy Scout Troop 213 and received his Eagle Rank. He also played hockey and football. Matt graduated with an associate degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College and also attended NDSU.
When Matt wasn't working one of his two jobs at Meineke Johnson (7 years) or McNeilus Steel (.5 year), he was busy living life to its fullest. Matt loved riding his '96 and 2013 Harleys, and going for bike runs with his Dad, especially to Bear Tooth Montana. Matt was always smiling, except in photographs, and helped remind those around him that humor is important in life. Matt was always ready to lend a helping hand or comforting shoulder to those in need. His generosity continues in his death as he helped give the gift of life to three persons as an organ donor.
Matt is survived by his parents; his sisters, Melisha (Joe) Vannett of Moorhead, MN and Megan Winter of Germany; his nephew and godson, Brennen Vannett; his grandmothers, Joan Bliss of Fargo (formerly of Wahpeton) and Darleen Doberstein of Wahpeton and many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Darwin Bliss, Wayne Winter, and Warren Doberstein and his aunt and godmother, Cheryl Bliss.
Visitation: Monday, July 22 from 5-7 pm at West Funeral Home, West Fargo and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 23 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.
