Funeral services for Mavis Jo Chaffin, 73, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will follow at Chriesman Cemetery under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Mrs. Chaffin passed away August 1, 2011 at Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell. Pallbearers will be; Clint Yeager, Jason Dodson, Leonard Marcella, Darwin WItte, John Wayne Watson, and Terry Akers. Mavis was born October 18, 1937 to Tola Earl Watson and Virlena Mae (Clepper) Watson in the Harmony Community of Burleson County Texas. Mavis was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Caldwell. Mavis is survived by her son Albert Chaffin of Carthage, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Alan Colley of Caldwell; brother and sister-in-law, J.P. and Gladys Watson of North Zulch, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law, Maudie and Willie Franks of Snook, Irene Brewster of Caldwell, LaVelle Gasper of Caldwell, Gladys Akers of Caldwell; grandchildren, Jakki Dodson, Clint Yeager, Ashley Chaffin, Alexis Chaffin, Aimee Chaffin, Amber Chaffin; great grandchildren, Jade Dodson, Jenna Dodson, and the father of her children, James Chaffin of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Hubert Watson. The family requests memorials be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 28th St, Bryan, Texas 77803.
