Maxine G. Slone

Achilles: Maxine Gibbs Slone of Achilles, Virginia died December 18, 2011 at Gloucester House in Gloucester, following a long illness. Mrs. Slone was born January 8, 1926, in Ashland, Kentucky. She received a bachelor's degree in accounting at Eastern Kentucky State University. Mrs. Slone retired as an internal auditor from Colonial Williamsburg in 1981. She briefly sold real estate for Belvins Realty. In retirement she became a Master Gardener, volunteering her gardening skills at Riverside Convalescent Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Slone; her parents, Lonus and Erma Gibbs; brothers, Lonus E. Gibbs, Jr., Eugene D. Gibbs, and Daniel R. Gibbs; and a sister, Wilda Gibbs.
Survivors include her sister, Kay Gibbs Bradley and brother-in-law, Bob of Gloucester; nephew, Robert Bradley, Jr. of Newport News; and niece, Victoria Bradley Black of Richmond and three grand nephews.
Services will be private.
