Maxine Weeks Brown was born on July 31, 1925 in State Park, South Carolina, daughter of Alla Vanderhost Weeks and Maxie Weeks. At the age of 9 years old, her family moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was educated in the Atlantic City Public School system and graduated from Atlantic City High School. On June 30, 1947, Maxine was joined in holy matrimony to Andrew James Brown, Sr. and this union was blessed with a son, Andrew, Jr. They would reside in Elizabeth, Linden and Roselle, New Jersey before moving to Rahway 6 years ago. She had been employed as a CRT Operator at Frank Millman Distribution, Inc. in Edison, New Jersey beginning in 1978 until she retired in 1987. Mrs. Brown was a faithful member of the Trinity Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church in Newark where she had proudly served as a Deaconess. Maxine Brown departed this life on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway, New Jersey at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her parents, Alla and Maxie Weeks and a brother, David Charles Weeks. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 63 years, Andrew James Brown, Sr. of Rahway, NJ; a son, Andrew James Brown, Jr. of Berrien Springs, Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Brown; one grandchild, Andrew James Brown, III; two great grandchildren, Emma Brown Erwin and Andrew James Brown, IV; a sister-in-law, Lucille Weeks; two nieces, Carolyn Nobles and Vera Mathis; one nephew, Ronald Weeks; her close cousins and loving caregivers, Gertrude Henderson, Luevenia Hines and Emma Herron and a host of other relatives and friends.
