May Velenovsky, 96, died October 20 at Heritage Harbour Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
She was born May 4, 1915 in Washington, DC. May was a homemaker, and an experienced seamstress, as well as an accomplished artist. She was an active member of the Anne Arundel Medical Center Auxiliary for over 50 years. In her later years, she knitted countless baby caps for newborns at AAMC.
May was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Velenovsky, who died in 1996.
She is survived by her son, George W. Velenovsky of Evergreen, CO; two daughters, Joanne M. Velenovsky of Quebec, Canada and Barbara V. Bodnar of Mascoutah, IL; sister, June Donaldson of Annapolis; sister-in-law, Leoba Velenovsky of Annapolis; eight grandchildren: Richard, Caroline, Kimberly, Joseph Jr., Julie, Emily, Rebecca and Catherine; and 12 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 24 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anne Arundel Medical Center, 2001 Medical Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
