Mr. McKinley Ray Hammons Sr., 79, of Elkhart, Indiana, died Sunday December 12, 2010 at his home in Elkhart. He was born December 22, 1930 in White River, Tennessee, the son of Harry Hammons and Cassie (Sexton) Hammons. McKinley worked in management for Budd Company. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Elkhart, IN., Masonic Lodge F. & A.M., York Rite, Scottish Rite, Night Templers, and Shriners. He enjoyed his dogs and working on cars and he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife: Janet (Schroeder) Hammons; 3 daughters - Ginger Hammons of Elkhart, Connie (Ronald) Duering of Lake Station, IN, Vickey (Thomas) Hullinger of New Haven, IN; 5 sons - McKinley Ray Hammons Jr. of Elkhart, Terry (Nancy Helser) Hammons of Elkhart, Steve Hammons of La Porte, Kenneth (Jennifer) McCann of Elkhart, McKinley (Kim) McCann of Goshen, IN; sister - Carolyn Liles of Pietros, TN; brother - Glen Hammons of La Porte;11 grandchildren;18 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. McKinley was preceded in death by his parents, son, Randy Hammons, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, December 17, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Saturday, December 18, 2010 10:00 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday December 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. A Masonic Service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home Friday at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Hospital or the Elkhart County Animal Shelter.
