Melissa Kay Thornsbury, 42, of rural Roann, Indiana, died at 9:03 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 in rural Roann as the result of an auto accident. She was born March 18, 1969 in Wabash, Indiana to Roger Allen and Brenda Sue (Cooper) Chandler. Missy was a 1987 graduate of Johnson Central High School in Paintsville, Kentucky. She worked at Todd's Corner in Roann. She attended the Roann Church of the Brethren. Missy loved life to the fullest, loved her dog, Sam, and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She is survived by her parents, Roger & Brenda Sue Chandler; son, Ryan Parker Thornsbury; and fiancee, Jay Vigar, all of Roann; brother, Roger A. (Sandy) Chandler Jr. of Mexico, Indiana; grandmother, Biddie Lou Chandler of Van Lear, Kentucky; 2 nephews, Rusty Chandler, and Sheyene Chandler; and niece, Emy Chandler, all of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her son Brandon Kyle Thornsbury. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Ryan Parker Thornsbury Education Fund.
