Melvin A. Cahill, 90 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, Missouri.

Born Friday, February 9, 1923 in Lexington, Missouri, he was the son of the late Melvin Cahill and the late Laura Davis Cahill.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Mayview and he was also a member of the Higginsville American Legion Post #223. He served in the Army during WW II.

Mr. Cahill worked as a truck driver for M.F.A. in Higginsville and Mayview, retiring in 2010.

Surviving are sons, David (Linda) Cahill of Higginsville, MO, Mark Cahill of Odessa, MO and Dean (Stacy) Cahill of Mayview, MO; daughter, Geneva Cahill of Higginsville, MO; 21 grand children; 42 great grand children and 17 great great grandchildren.

Melvin is preceded by his parents, one son, Louis Cahill; one brother Leon Cahill and three sisters, Clara Bass, Charlene West and Maxine Adams.

A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Hoefer Chapel,1600 Main St. Higginsville with Rev. Gary Maberry officiating and Rev. Kenneth Bass assisting. Pallbearers are David Cahill Jr., Daniel Cahill, Aaron Cahill, Jacob Cahill, Stephen Tripp and Vincent Cahill. Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday prior to the service.
