Mercella B. Kujawski, age 86, of the Keyser Valley section of West Scranton, passed away Wednesday at the Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore J. Kujawski, on April 25, 2004. Born in Scranton on October 25, 1924, daughter of the late Louis D. and Madeline Cuff James, Mercella was educated at the former Scranton Technical High School before working as a seamstress for CNC Fashions and Dawn Dress, both formerly of West Scranton. Of strong Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. David's Church and more recently was a member of St. Patrick's Church. She was very active in the church, helping with everything from church raffles to dinners, and her favorite pasttimes were crossword puzzles and making ceramics. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her two children, her son, Theodore Kujawski and wife Charmaine of West Scranton, and her daughter, Kathleen Grosvenor and husband Wayne, with whom she resided; two grandchildren, Kyle and Brandon Kujawski; and several nieces and nephews. Brothers, Edward and David James; and a sister, Margaret James, also preceded her in death. A private Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled to be held in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in West Scranton to be celebrated by Rev. Martin Boylan, Pastor. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Arrangements are under the care of Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
