Michael A. Marden, 61, Kokomo, passed away on Friday, April 8, at 9:21 A.M. at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on August 30, 1949 in Marion, Indiana to Robert and Betty (Alter) Marden. Michael graduated from Marion High School, and went on to marry Donna Marden on July 11, 2009 in Bon Air Park here in Kokomo, and she survives. He worked at Kroger for over twenty-five years before retiring, and then went to work for the Coca-Cola Company here in Kokomo for ten more years before retiring from there as well. Michael actively participated in the North West Park Men’s Softball League for more than 30 years, attending all the activities from spring to fall. He was a die-hard Cubs fan, and enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and camping. He was a family man, enjoying time spent with his grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his wife, Donna Marden; his children, John (Sheri) Marden, Kim (Travis) Moyers, Jeff (Debbie) Marden, Megan Marden and fiancé Joshua Bales, Jessica Marden and Ryan Fritch, Molly (Andy) Phillips, and Larry Weaver; his grandchildren, Mallory Lyn, Natalie, Courtney, Lyston, Kolby, Austin, Mallory Jo, McKenna, Elizabeth, Nora, Colleen, Chassen, John, Jordan, Olivia, Royce, Madison, Kennedy, Isaiah, Jacob, and Ava; his mother, Betty Marden; and his siblings, Barbara “Bobbie” Southerland, Sue Dilley, Karen Clendenin, Stephen Marden, Cathy Flores, Greg Marden, Debra Marden, and Tamara Parent.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Robert Marden, a grandson, Parker Marden; and a close grandmother, Ruth Marden.

All of Michael’s friends are welcome to join his family for a time of visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. The funeral service for Michael will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 10, 2011 also at the Mortuary, with Pastor Dale Bliss officiating. We will then be taking Michael to his final resting place in Albright Cemetery, Kokomo. Contributions can be made in Michael’s memory to Riley Children’s Hospital, and to the family to help offset expenses at this difficult time.
