Michael "Mike" Edward Scible, 60, of Shady Side, and formerly of Edgewater, died December 26 of cardiac arrest after a 14-year battle with an ongoing illness. Mike was born November 7, 1951 to the late William Tilghman Scible III and Etta Irene Leitch-Scible in Annapolis and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1969. He lived in Annapolis during his early childhood and then the family moved to Woodlawn Beach, where he resided most of his life until getting married to his wife and moving to Shady Side. He worked many jobs, but mostly as an auto mechanic, animal control officer and tractor trailer driver. He loved to go boating, fishing, junk picking (antique shopping) and watching Law and Order and TV Land. He also enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Tilghman Scible III and Agnes Green-Tongue (of the Jonas Green family in Annapolis); brother, William T. Scible IV; and sister, Jean Scible. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Kim Wilkins-Scible whom he married June 3, 1995; brother, Richard Scible of Charles County; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Melvin Wilkins; former spouse, Sherry Scible; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Kathy Scible; three nieces, Bethany, Kara and Amy; and dearest family friends, the Kalp family - Cathy, Jim, Eli, Jimmy and Alisa, Dana Smallwood, Wayne Hagenbuch, George Wilkerson, and the Nicols family. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 29 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday December 30 at the Taylor Chapel followed by burial at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
