Michael J. Huzzy, 67, of Dock Street, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at SUNY Upstate Medical University, from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on August 15, 1945 in Lowville, the son of F. John and Marion Sykes Huzzy. He grew up in Lyons Falls, where he received his education, graduating from South Lewis Central School. Mike worked alongside his father for many years at the Lyons Inn Hotel of Lyons Falls. For a short time he was employed for Agway, before driving truck for Georgia Pacific Paper Co., eventually retiring from Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Co., Lyons Falls. On September 20, 1969 Michael was united in marriage with Katherine McIntyre at St. John's Church, Lyons Falls. "Huzzy" enjoyed hunting and horseback riding, watching a good western movie; he had a passion for motorcycles, and found great enjoyment out on the open road, but what meant the most to Huz was the time he spent with his four grandchildren. Besides his wife, Mike is survived by his daughters: Sheri (David) McDowell, Syracuse, and Wendi Huzzy, Poughkeepsie, his four grandchildren: Shelbi T., Devinere L., and Navia E. McDowell, and Alondra B. Russo., his mother Marion Divelbiss, Colorado Springs, CO; his three sisters: Susan (Peter) Heggie, Weedsport, Wendy Rockhill, Colorado Springs, CO, Catherine "Fuz" Averett, Chesapeake, VA; cousins Katherine Smith and Patricia Bush, several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 11:00 am at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assn., Heart Gifts Processing Center, and P.O. Box #3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
