Michael Matthew Raimo, 75, of Newark, passed away Saturday July 9, 2011. Michael Raimo was a known "fixture" of North Jersey, having lived his entire life in the city that he loved, Newark. Mr. Raimo served in the United States Army, and throughout his life was involved in various business ventures as a successful restauranteur, club owner, political activist, real estate consultant, and the owner of his own production company. Mr. Raimo had owned successful restaurants such as The Last Resort and the Fisherman, and was also owner of North Jersey's most prestigious Disco Club, Creation. Mr. Raimo also had his hand in production, having produced shows for various entertainers, including Bob Hope, and film production. Throughout his life, Mr. Raimo loved his country, and was heavily involved in North Jersey Politics, having served as campaign manager for various politicians, and also serving as Chief of Staff to State Senator Anthony Imperiale. Mr. Raimo was involved in the development of large real estate projects in the City of Newark. Michael Raimo loved dearly his daughter Alex, who was his whole world. Mr. Raimo connected all types of people, and made everyone part of his big family. He was always there for those who loved him, and was a confidant, friend, and role model to countless people throughout the world. Mr. Raimo is survived by his daughter Alexandra Rago, loving companion Evelyn E. Laccitiello sisters Theresa Gutowski and Marie Kull, dear friend Annabelle "Annie" Gibson, nephews Stanley Gutowski, Gary Kull, nieces Patricia Kaelblein, Dina O'Keefe, and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Gerardo and Margaret (nee Mattia) Raimo. Funeral Wednesday 10 am from the Megaro Memorial Home 503 Union Ave Belleville (megaromemorialhome.com). Mass 11:45 am St. Lucy's Church Newark. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover. Visitation Tuesday 4-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist in the renovation of the St. Gerard Plaza Wall of St. Lucy's Church, 118 7th Avenue Newark, NJ 07102.
