Michael Paul Jester, 52, of Davenport passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester after a courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born January 29, 1959 in Treadwell, New York the son of the late Wayland and Aileen (Pinney) Jester.
Mike graduated from Charlotte Valley Central School, Davenport.
On May 10, 1980, Mike married Jacqueline Roberts in Delhi.
For 29 years, Mike worked at the Delaware County Landfill as a heavy equipment operator.
He loved riding motorcycles, working on cars, camping, fishing, going to flea markets and always wanted to travel. But most of all, Mike loved spending time with his family and the many family picnics they shared together.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jackie Jester of Davenport; four children, Jason Jester of Estill Springs, TN, Jessica Jester and friend, Russell of West Winfield, Wayland and Lisa Jester of Stamford, and Michael Jester, II of Davenport; five grandchildren, Desiree, Diezel, Dominick, Destiny and Kylee; seven siblings, Onna Bahrer of Reading, PA, Wayne Jester of Meridale, Marvin and Evelyn Jester of Jefferson, David and Robin Jester of Medusa, Tanya and Tim Pernice of Meridale, Mary Halstead and friend, Joe of East Meredith and Melodi and Bob Wright of Davenport; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rebecca and Carl O'Dell of Walton, sister-in-law, Kim and Tim LaTourette of Trout Creek; brother-in-law, Rick Roberts and friend, Tracey of Stamford; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Phyllis Jester; sister, Marie and Dave Broadwell; and brother, Barrett Jester.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Michael Paul Jester will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 6:00 PM in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta with the Reverend Mel Farmer pastor of the River Street Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Michael's memory may be made to the nurses at Strong Memorial Hospital, 8-1200 Unit, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642.
