Michael R. Connor February 1, 1933 ~ November 16, 2010 Graveside services for Michael R. Connor, 77, of Bastrop, are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Section C-3 of Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Rev. Vickie Simons will officiate. Interment will follow. Mr. Connor died at his home in Bastrop Tuesday, November 16, 2010. He was born February 1, 1933 in Somerville, Texas, the son of James Augustus and Frances Greer (Ragsdale) Connor. He graduated from Caldwell High School and attended Texas A&M University. He served in the United State Marines and worked as a landsman for the petroleum industry. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife of over 52 years, Gayle (Scott) Connor of Bastrop; a son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Margaret Connor of Austin; a brother, James Connor of Corpus Christi; three grandchildren, Patrick Connor, Matthew Connor, and Abigail Connor, all of Austin. Family members have requested that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Somerville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.
