Michael Ray Jones passed away on July 30, 2011 of Mesothelioma. He was born on December 11, 1949 in Fort Knox, KY to James Everette and Mildred Naomi Horner Jones. The family moved to Edgewood approximately 6 years later and stayed there. Mike worked at APG-Edgewood Area since March 1967 and was considered an Army expert in collective filtration technology. Mike is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paulette, his son, Michael Ray Jones, Jr, and sister, Jenny Gilmore. Mike's main passion was flying. He earned his private pilot license in 1969, and then followed with his instrument pilot license, commercial pilot license, certified flight instructor, instrument instructor, and seaplane ratings. He taught his son to fly for his private pilot license and was working on his son's instrument license. Mike was maintenance officer of the Edgewood Area Flying Club for 30 years and president of the Harford Flying Club for 10 years. Mike also served on the Edgewood Community Council, Harford County Preservation Committee, and as a Federal Aviation Administration Safety Counselor.
