Michael Schumacher, 80, Bismarck, was called home to be with Our Heavenly Father on August 30, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, September 3, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, Bismarck, with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, September 2, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Michael "Mike" was born on April 9, 1931, raised and educated in Blue Grass, ND, the son of Anthony and Eva (Zahn) Schumacher. He married Marcella Weiand on June 2, 1953, at St. Benedict Church south of Beulah, ND. Mike received a degree in business and enjoyed a career in sales primarily in the automotive and manufactured home industries, until his retirement in April 1996. Marcella passed away on April 19, 1974. He was then united in marriage to Cecilia Bosch on August 30, 1978, at Church of St. Anne in Bismarck. Mike was a principled man with a strong faith rooted in the Catholic religion, his love of family knew no bounds. Socializing with family and friends were cornerstone activities in his life. He was actively involved in his faith as an usher, parish activities, Home on the Range for Boys breakfasts, and St. Mary's carnivals. He was a lifelong member of the Eagles, Elks, and Knights of Columbus. Many memories were made with his passion of playing pinochle, golf, fishing, gardening, yard work, and watching sports. Mike had anticipated his retirement years and had the optimal retirement. His days were filled with activities that he enjoyed; there was a perfect balance of recreation, work that was social in nature, personal, and family time. He enjoyed the low stress and social nature of being a doorman at the Elks, Civic Center, and as a volunteer for AARP. Each day of retirement was thoroughly enjoyed from the first to the last. Mike is survived by his wife, Cecilia, Bismarck; four children, Gary, Pittsburgh, PA, Kathy (Karlis) Heiser, Brenda (Jeff) Rogerson, both of Bismarck, and Wade (JoLynn) Schumacher, Forest Lake, MN; three stepchildren, Karen (Sean) Flaherty, Maple Grove, MN, Sharon (Greg) Morrell, Mandan, ND, and Chuck (Bernie) Holzer, Bismarck; sister, Theresa Kottre, Missoula, MT; sister-in-law, Lauretta Schumacher, Glen Ullin, ND; brother-in-law, Alvin Schneider, Bismarck; twenty grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marcella; sisters, Mary Derhing, Agnes Allmendinger Fisher, and Maggie Schneider; and brother, Konston Schumacher.
