Michael R. “Mike” Thompson, 54, of Ramey Addition, left this world to be with his Savior on Friday, August 14, 2009, at his residence.

Born Feb. 27, 1955, at Grundy, VA, he was the son of Helen Lorraine Thompson Arnold of Tazewell, VA and the late Edgar Rush Thompson.

Mike had been a resident of this area for 33 years and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Worship Center, Bear Hole Road. He was employed by Brody Mining in Boone County and was a former employee of Twin Falls State Park. He loved the Lord and going to church and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Katelin, whom he called “Paw Paw’s Angel” most of all. Mike was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Billy Thompson.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Suzanne Lively Thompson; a son, Michael “Shannon” Thompson and his wife, Karen, of Lincolnton, NC; “Paw Paw’s Angel”, Katelin Rayanne Thompson;three sisters, Janice Gobel and her husband, Bud, of Detroit, MI, Jewell Farmer of Tazewell, VA and Sharon Stiltner and her husband, Chris, of Abingdon, VA; two special brothers-in-law, Roger Lively and his wife, Brenda, of Surveyor and Lee Lively and his wife, Mary, of Pineville; a sister-in-law, Velma Riffe of Pineville; special friends, Elizabeth Riffe of Rupert and John Riffe of Stop-Over, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
