Michiyo Endo, 92, passed away on January 2, 2013, in San Mateo, CA. She was born in San Francisco, CA on June 26, 1920. She attended elementary and junior high school in San Francisco. At age 12, she went to Japan where she completed her high school education. In 1956, she returned to San Francisco with her daughter Reiko. She had a great career working for three generals. After World War II, she worked briefly for General Douglas MacArthur. Then she worked for General Maxwell Taylor as a translator. Later, she became General W.P. Shepard's personal secretary. At age 84, Michi retired from her work at Mutual Express(formerly Shima Transfer) where she worked for 40 years.
Michi is survived by daughter, Reiko (Rex) Golobic, her brother Gish (Takako) Endo; her nephews, Hiko (Susan) Shimamoto, Tomo (Yuri) Endo, Tsune Endo
(Japan), Paul (Susan) Endo and nieces, Joanne Tohei, and Lexie (Barney) Ng, and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces. Her sisters, Mary Shimamoto
and Emiko Endo predeceased her.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Sneider, Sullivan & O'Connell's at 977 So. El Camino Real at 10th Avenue, San Mateo, CA A reception will follow at San Mateo Elks Lodge, 229 W. 20th Avenue, San Mateo, CA.
