I don't know if you knew this, but your Dad use to take the cars up to the Gulf station that I worked at. I was a kid at that time, and he talked to me with the respect as if he was talking to one of his friends. I remember him as a great person. How fortunate you were to have him.

Dear Bob and family. I’m writing on the first anniversary of Mike’s death. I‘ve wanted to share some thoughts about Mike for some time now, after I happened to find, quite by chance, Mike’s obituary on-line earlier this year. I was very sorry to hear about your Dad. He was a mentor to me as a boy. We lived just west of your first home, which was your grandparents’ home, in Huron. I knew your maternal grandparents, Bert and Anna Cassidy, very well. Bert was once mayor of the city. I ran errands around town on my bike for your mother Virginia for a quarter. Many times it was to pick up groceries. I was about 10 years old or so and I once asked Mike to help me with my Boy Scout crystal radio set which I had gotten for Christmas. He put up an antenna from my bedroom window out to a guy-wire supporting our high TV tower antenna, and got the set working. And he took me along, to watch you, when he played in a softball league. He was quite athletic. We always stopped for milkshakes on the ride home. You used to come over and sit with me on our front porch when you were just a toddler. So, you see, I have many fond memories and wanted to send them along. –Mark Myers
