Michael L. Jacobson, age 64, of West Fargo, ND passed away on June 2, 2013, in his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Jacobson was born July 31, 1948, in Northwood, North Dakota to Vernon and Eileen Jacobson. Mike lived in West Fargo for 60+ years where he graduated from West Fargo High School in 1966 and Moorhead State College in 1971 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. In 1970 he married Sharon Jenison and together they had 4 children; Brad, Zondra, Brian and Brandon.

Mike started his career in the restaurant industry at the Hi-10 Steakhouse & Lounge in West Fargo, where he became part-owner. He managed the Harwood American Legion for 15 years and continued in the industry at Legends Bar and Grill. He also owned and operated Mike's Catering for 20+ years.

Mike was a very caring and compassionate person who was always willing to help a friend or stranger. Known for his big heart and ability to connect with everyone he met, he truly enjoyed helping others. Mike was a very hard worker and instilled the importance of a strong work ethic in his children. He also loved to have a good time. Mike lived the motto, "work hard, play hard" every day! In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, canning, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Eileen Emmerich Veitch, West Fargo, ND; his children, Brad (Carrie), West Fargo, ND, Zondra (Roger) Duysen, West Fargo, ND, Brian (Mellissa), West Fargo, ND, Brandon (Sarah), Horace, ND; sister Peggy (Bruce) Kringlie, Fargo, ND, brother, Greg (Sharon), West Fargo, ND, brother, Kevin, Argusville, ND, step sister, Diane (Dan) Stark of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Allison, Brayden, Haleigh, Kylee, Madison, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jake and Lillian Emmerich and paternal grandparents, Axel and Nettie Christianson; his father, Vernon Jacobson; step father, Norman Veitch and nephew, Dana Jacobson.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, please donate to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation: Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Memorial Service: Friday at 11 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.
