Mildred Christine Davis, 77, of Linden, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. She was born on September 12, 1933 in Paulsboro, New Jersey to the Late Roosevelt and Marion Davis. She was the eighth of twelve children. She was educated in the Paulsboro School System District 10. At the age of thirteen, she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Paulsboro. In 1957, she moved to Linden. Mildred was employed by St. Elizabeth Hospital now Trinitas Medical Center, Elizabeth as a nurses' aide for seven years; and the Linden Board of Education, Linden for several years. Mildred was an active member of Greater Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Linden. She sang with the Faith Choir, M. L. Frazier Emergency Choir, R. C. Morris Fellowship Choir and Reunion Fellowship Choir. She was a member of the Greater Mt. Moriah Senior Citizens Club. Mildred enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to have fun and make people laugh. She was known for her long exquisite nails and her Atlantic City excursions. She was predeceased by her mother, Marion Davis, her father, Roosevelt Davis; her son, John B. Davis; her brothers, Nathaniel, James and Stanley; her sisters, Marion, Verna, Helen and Bernice. Surviving are her daughter, Letictia Sharene Davis; her sisters, Gladys Davis of San Bruno, CA; Bertha Avant of Paulsboro, NJ; Delores Jude of Linden, NJ and Diane Griffin of West Deptford, NJ; two godsons, Theus Armstead and Dwayne Griffin; brother-in-law, Bernard Avant; sister-in-law, Patricia Davis; aunt, Phyllis Davis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
