Mildred Jannette Ricks Edmondson

Mildred Jannette Ricks Edmondson, 88, departed this life on Friday, June 10, 2011. Mildred “Nana” Edmondson was born July 12, 1922 in Hempstead, Texas to Charles and Amelia Ricks. She was valedictorian of her class at Ennis High School and earned her education degree at what is now the University of North Texas. She married OK Edmondson on December 23, 1943. She taught for many years in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District. Mildred’s joy was her family and she was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as a special mentor to her daughters-in-law. She was a longtime member at First Baptist Church, Carrollton, being part of many Bible studies as a participant and leader. She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband OK of 62 years on February 20, 2006. Survivors: Sons Kent Edmondson and his wife Nancy of Providence Village, Ricks Edmondson and his wife Carol of Saginaw, Greg Edmondson and his wife Laura of Mansfield, and daughter-in-law Kay Edmondson of Carrollton along with twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13 at First Baptist Church, Carrollton. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. at the church preceding the service.
