COLUMBIA Graveside service for Mildred Louise Poston Weed, 83, will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2011, in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mrs. Weed died Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Born in Bennettsville, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Pauline Sweat Poston. A member of Riverland Hills Baptist church, she was a volunteer at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was known for her sharp wit and honest opinion. A talented floral designer and baker, she enjoyed hosting parties for friends and family.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Lt. Col. Herbert Franklin Weed Jr.; daughter, Vicki Weed Hodgin of Columbia; two grandsons; one granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Bruce M. Weed.
The family would like to thank Emma Singleton, Bernice Jones, Dorothy Hart, Dr. Rodney Harrison and staff and the staff of the Infusion Center of Lexington Medical Center for their loving care and devotion.
