Graveside services for Mildred Mae Novosad, 90, of Caldwell are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell. A Memorial service will be held afterwards at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell, with Rev. Todd Jordan officiating. A visitation is set for Sunday, September 5, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mrs. Novosad passed away Friday, September 3, 2010, in Caldwell. Pallbearers will be: Ben Novosad, Jay Drgac, Harold Urbanoskyu, Garry Gossett, Don Novosad, Rufus Lewis, Patrick Cournyer, and Forrest Surles, Jr. Mildred was born October 8, 1919, to Walter J. Pattillo and Lillie Mae Bell Pattillo, in Temple, Texas. Mildred was a graduate of Caldwell High School, and for 27 months, acting County Superintendent of Schools while her husband was in the military. She was a buyer and salesclerk for Moore�s Drygoods. She performed in and directed the First United Methodist Church choir for over 30 years. Mildred was very active in teaching and sponsoring youth fellowship as well as administrative duties at the church. She was also a member and president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and active in 4-H clubs, the Women�s Club, Garden Club, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was the first president of the Caldwell Christian Care Store. She loved to sing and was a talented artist. Mildred is survived by sons; Dr. Ronald R. & Pat Novosad of Houston, David P. & Vickie Novosad of Caldwell, brother-in-law; Colbert Drgac of Caldwell, grandchildren; Lauri Novosad & Forrest G. Surles of Houston, Christie Novosad and Patrick Cournyer of Spring, Jennifer Novosad of Houston, great grandchildren; Forrest G. Surles, Jr., Amy Lane Surles, Autumn Ann Surles, and Camden Nicole Cournyer. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, and her sister Elsie Casey.
