I only met Millie a few times during the past few years as I had a business relationship with her. I remember her sweet voice and her kindness.

I am impacted by her death as I learned about it just yesterday. I will be forever changed by her passing.

My warmest thoughts to Mr Barnhart and the entire family who are surely suffering with broken hearts. I will continue to think of you all and pray for you all daily.

May God surround you with a blanket of comfort and peace.

That photo just cries out to me of the essence of the Millie Barnhart we knew: a beauty inside and out with a smile, even in the hard times, that seemed to glow from deep within; a person who was always the first to ask how things were going with you and yours, and to sincerely care what your response was; someone who beamed with light while rejecting the spotlight and who reveled in the love she had for Moon and the rest of her family. (Becky, I became acquainted with your parents when BJ & I were your middle school youth sponsors. Each time we talked after that time, we'd update each other on our children and grandchildren and especially our military connected ones. She was so proud of you and your family.)

Although our acquaintance was limited to church, I always felt that we had a deeper connection as we visited about everything from our families (dogs included) to our husbands' accidents and hip replacements. Every visit was a blessing. Future New Years Days will always be brightened by the light Millie brought to all she touched.

My mom Marylou and I met Millie at the New Heart Silver Sneakers class. She was always friendly and nice to us. She will be missed.

I met Millie at the Silver Sneakers exercise class at New Heart on Lomas. She was a lovely lady and a joy to know.

Millie and I found a common bond in our love of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Upon discovering that I too was a Kappa from UNM, she embraced me with open arms, eager to share her memories and experiences. The importance and lasting sisterhood of Kappa became real when I met Millie. Upon hearing of her passing a Kappa song came to my mind:

It deeply saddens me to have to say goodbye and I will lovingly wear my Kappa key in her memory.

Our frequent phone conversations and occasional visits were always a source of joy over the past 40 years. We smile when we think of her standing at the counter and preparing her dogs' meal from 15 bottles of vitamins and treats."If you don't like dog hair on you clothes, don't come to my house." She was a dear friend, whom we will miss terribly.
