Millicent (Banks) Showell, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, Niece and Friend, was born on November 9, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mary L. Timmons and the late William Banks. She was educated in the New York Public Schools, graduating from Franklin K. Lane High School. Upon high school graduation, Millicent took college courses and was employed by the Chemical Bank of New York. She was later employed by the New York City Transit Authority. She retired in 1995 and traveled extensively. Millicent accepted Christ at an early age and was a 50 + year member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY, where she served as an usher. After many years of serving, giving and taking care of family members and friends, Millie relocated to Dover, DE where she continued to lavish unselfish love and concern on family and friends. Millie as she was affectionately called, was predeceased by her parents; husband, Donald Showell, daughter, Deirdra Showell, brother and sister, George "Jack" Timmons and Lillian Timmons, and aunt, Dorothy Adams, also known as "Aunt Dot". She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her loving son, Donald W. (Denise) Showell, grandson, Donald S. "Trey" Showell of Georgia, niece, Helen (Nick) Belford of Delaware, nephews, Lewis Timmons of Delaware, Eugene Showell, Daryl Keith and Darren Spencer of New York, Donald J. Showell of Baltimore, special cousins, Glenda (John) Bowen and Vernetta (Jesse) William of Delaware, Shirley (Jesse) Dale, Darlene Sessoms of Maryland, Marian Jackson of Pennsylvania and faithful friends, Dolores Scott, Louise Moseley, Ellen Jean Higgs-Haynie, the Athenians and Doris Brabham as well as a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to list.
