Minnie Lee Merrell Fowler was born December 5, 1910 in Lumberton, Mississippi to the parents of Will Merrell and Pearlia Parker Merrell. She was the third child of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings. Mama Minnie, as affectionately called by family members and friends, was educated in the Mississippi Public School System. On March 27, 1929, she was united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved, James Wesley Fowler in Pecola, Mississippi and to this union three children were born. They later moved to Kinloch, Missouri in 1945. Until his passing in January, 1987, she was a devoted and supportive wife. She was employed by Host International as a food preparer until her retirement. She drove her own car until she was 94 years old. Through God's blessings, she gave her life to God at an early age and became a member of St. James Baptist Church in Kinloch, Missouri. In 2006, she later united with Berkeley Congregation Hall and was baptized as a Jehovah Witness. Her favorite song was "Lord, Help Me to Hold Out". On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, she departed this life and found eternal peace. Her memory will be cherished by: her daughters, Jessie Lee Sennie (Eddie Sennie, Sr.) and Freddie Mae; one son, Johnny James "Hop" (Michelle Fowler), step-daughter, Essie Mae Brown (Billy Brown); 38 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, 94 great great-grandchildren, 3 great great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
