Minnie Mitchell, better known as "Bay", was born on October 2, 1936 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to the late Cornelius and Julia Mitchell. In 1942, the Mitchell family relocated to Paterson, New Jersey. On February 4, 2012 God sent an angel to guide his beloved daughter to eternal rest. 'Bay' attended Paterson public Schools and Bordentown Manual Training School. At an early age Minnie M. Mitchell began working for Hazel Bishops Cosmetic Company (8 years) and Kohner Toy Company, which later became CBS Toy Company (10 years). She later worked for Stern's Brothers Distribution for a short period of time, after the company converted to Macy's. On April 16, 1988 Minnie Mitchell began work for New Jersey Transit as an Information Officer (12 years). She later became a Chief Clerk, retiring on January 26, 2001 with numerous awards which included Perfect Attendance, Great Leadership, and Over- all Contribution to the TIC. Minnie was known for always going the extra mile to assist co-workers. 'Bay' was a loving and caring mother, and all that knew her realized how caring she was. She didn't mind going that extra mile helping family and friends. 'Bay" was an excellent cook. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening. 'Bay' always enjoyed being in the company of her children, and truly adored her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. 'Bay' was preceded in death by her parents and fifteen brothers and sisters. She leaves to celebrate her memory: three sons: Gregory, Ronnie, and Lonnie and one daughter: Ariel all of Paterson, NJ; a sister: Linda Cotton of Alexandria, Virginia; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two very special friends: Virginia Harris Snead and Minnie Bennett; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
