COLUMBIA A graveside service for Miriam Francina Parrott, 98, will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Miss Parrott, known to her family as "Wannie", died Saturday, January 28, 2012. Born August 5, 1913, in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late Hilton M. and Meta Woodham Parrott. At the age of twenty, Miriam graduated from the University of South Carolina and began teaching English and French in small towns of South Carolina. She then worked for many years with the S.C. State Board of Health. Later in life, she returned to teaching in elementary education. Miriam was a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church and loved being in the Major Circle. She was a person of great faith and was dearly loved by her family.
Surviving are nieces, Karen P. (Basil) Shaver, Celia P. (Billy) Jernigan, and her dear great-niece, Amanda C. Jernigan. She was pre-deceased by her beloved great-nephew, Blakely Hilton Jernigan. In addition to her parents and great-nephew, she was predeceased by siblings, Pierce W. Parrott, Hilton M. Parrott, Meubern B. Parrott, James J. Parrott, Janie E. Parrott, Thomas H. Parrott and Alva L. Parrott.
