Monica Helena Skahill, 89, of the 5500 block of Bayside Road, Virginia Beach, VA, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2012. A native of Dubuque County, Iowa and a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Loretta C. Reisdorf. She was a longtime member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Catholic Chapel. She was a volunteer at Lake Taylor Hospital for 22 years, an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Chesapeake Beach Volunteer Fire Department and a dedicated Blood Donor. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and game shows. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Hehl of Norfolk, VA; three sons, Daniel and wife Jackie, David and Brandon Skahill; five grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, Chris, Sean and Danielle; four great-grandchildren, Kailey, Kiersten, Aubrey and Brenton. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jane Rice. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mario Fulgenzi officiating. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital Volunteer Patient Donations or a Catholic Charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
