Mrs. Myrtle Tompkins Joiner, age 89 of McDonough, Georgia passed away September 22, 2011. She was born in Washington County, GA to the late Harry and Claudia Horton Tompkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Joiner; brother, Herman Tompkins; sister, Edna Mae Bennett and her son in law, Paul Mathews, Sr. Myrtle was a member of Bible Baptist Church and retired from Treasure Island Stores. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, Bible studies and taking care of babies. Survivors include her daughter, Frances Mathews of McDonough; grandchildren, Paul (Kim) Mathews, Jr. of Jackson, GA Sharon (Dave) Perry of Henderson, KY; great grandchildren, Alan Perry of Sunnyvale, CA, Samantha Mathews of Jackson, GA, Christopher Perry of Athens, GA and William Mathews of Jackson, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Norman Pyle and Rev. Randy Shaylor will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
