Myrtle LaVelle Durtschi passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 23, 2011. She was born June 14, 1918, the eldest of three daughters born to Christopher and Myrtle Morris Affleck.
LaVelle married her High School sweetheart, Clarence Durtschi in November of 1937, they shared a happy life together for 67 years. They were blessed with a daughter, Joan, who was the love of their life. LaVelle was a devoted wife and mother.
She was a member of the LDS church, served in primary and as a den mother. She was a marvelous cook, excellent seamstress, and enjoyed making craft items, and sharing them with family and friends. She had a generous and loving heart. Clare and LaVelle enjoyed bowling, camping, boating, traveling, and playing bridge.
LaVelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, and sisters,
Bernice Judd, and Bonnie Nordahl. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins; sisters-in-law, Wilma Spriggs and Elsie Macbeth; special niece, Elise Tittle; and the “Adair boys,” life long friends, who were like adopted sons.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at “Our House” assisted living, Issa, Suzie, Teresa, Mele, Jesse, also the hospice care.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at Elysian Burial Gardens.
