Nancy Hahn – Educator for 40 years Nancy Reagan Hahn entered eternal life on February 20, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on June 10, 1942 in Scranton, PA to Marie Louise and Tim Reagan. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, NJ in 1959. Upon graduating from Caldwell College in Caldwell NJ in 1963, Nancy began her teaching career as a 3rd grade teacher at Brunner School in Scotch Plains NJ. In 1965, she married Mike and moved to Virginia Beach VA where he was stationed in the Navy. After the Navy, Mike’s career with 3M would move them many times throughout her life. In 1978, Nancy resumed her teaching career in Roseville MN as a 6th grade teacher at St. Odilia School. She served on the St. Paul Archdiocese Catholic School Committee developing the Quest Program for youth self esteem and the computer education program. In 1988, Nancy moved to Austin TX for 8 years and taught 6th grade at St. Louis School. In 1995 another 3M relocation led Nancy to Long Valley NJ where she served as the Director of Religious Education at St. Luke’s Parish. During her tenure, the program grew from 400 children to over 1000. In September 2003, St. Luke’s honored Nancy with the dedication of “The Nancy Hahn Library for Christian Education”. Nancy is survived by Mike, her devoted husband of 38 years, daughters Elizabeth of NYC; Megan and husband Peter of Houston; Sons Tim of NYC; Michael and wife Stephanie and their sons Regan, Riley and Griffin of Austin, TX. She is also survived by sister Molly of Clinton NJ, brother Tim and his wife Sue of Vashon Island, WA; brother Jamie of LaConner, WA; the many brother and sisters-in-law of the Hahn family and her many nieces, nephew and countless friends across the country. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, hostess, mentor but most importantly teacher, Nancy deeply touched the hearts of many. As a teacher, Nancy has left us with many lessons. Whether it was her faith in God, her ability to build self-esteem in children, her ease and grace when entertaining 5 or 50 people, or offering to help a neighbor or friend when in need, Nancy has inspired so many with her life. While she leaves many gifts through her example, perhaps the most profound is that of her family. We celebrate Nancy for she created and nurtured family; whether it was a child or husband, a niece, uncle or any of her many dinner guests. While photos and memories may fade, it is our continued strength in family that is her lasting lesson. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2004 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. The mass will be con celebrated by Reverend Jerry Hahn, brother-in-law to Nancy, Reverend Michael Drury, and Monsignor Edward Jordan. Interment will follow at Capital Memorial Park/Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any donations be made to the ‘Nancy Hahn Library for Christian Education’ at St Luke’s Parish, PO Box 416, Long Valley, NJ 07853 (908-876-3515). Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78705 (512) 452-8811. You may view memorials online at
