Mr. Neil Crawford Burkhart, Sr., 75, of Newark, DE, formerly of Waynesboro, PA entered into eternal rest at 8:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on April 18, 1936 in Waynesboro; he was the son of the late Marshall Winfield Burkhart and Fern (Walker) Burkhart. Mr. Burkhart graduated with the 1954 class of Waynesboro Senior High School. He and his wife, Nena (Gariando) Burkhart, were married on September 28, 1996 in Newark, DE. Mr. Burkhart was employed as a configuration manager for National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Md. He retired on disability in 1996. He was a member of Eagles Club Inc., Waynesboro and enjoyed playing pool. In his younger years, he and his partner were the 1953 Tri-State Champions in roller skating. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Rosalind L. Hogan in Mt. Airy, MD, Lisa Morris in Gulf Breeze, FL and four sons: Bruce Hall, Neil C. Hall and Neil C. Burkhart, Jr. in Virginia, Randy A. Burkhart in Laurel, MD and numbers of grandchildren and great grandchildren also a sister, Shirley J. Crowder in Houston, TX and a brother, Dennis W. Burkhart in Newark, DE; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 1, 2012 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro, PA with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
