Nell Medley Thompson, 94, of Lubbock left this earth on Sunday, April 16, 2006 to be greeted at the gates of heaven by our Heavenly Father.
Nell was born March 13, 1912 to Sam and Pearl Medley in Winfield, TX. She married A. Ralph Thompson April 18, 1935 in Lubbock, who preceded her in death in 1983. Nell was an active member of Central Baptist Church and later Colonial Baptist Church. She was a leader in the Sunday School Departments, active in WMA and in Children’s activities.
Nell enjoyed quilting and embroidering gifts as her Christian family grew from children to adults. She was known to the rsvp members as the “telephone lady”, who called to wish them happy birthday. Nell loved to visit the elderly and shut-ins and brought a smile and a laugh or two to many nursing home residents. Nell was preceded in death by 1 son, 1 son-in-law, 5 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 great-grandson.
Nell is survived by her 3 Daughters; Patti Faulkinberry of Lubbock, Sarah Tollett of Littlefield and Jan Moore and husband Ray of Plano; 1 sister, Margaret Atkins of Waxahachie; 1 brother, Bill of Fayetteville , Arkansas, 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.
Nell will be missed by all who knew her sense of humor and her joy of singing praises to her lord.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeridge Baptist Church. Burial will be at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
We love you Memaw.
