Dateline: Stanley Nelson Charles Brittain, 95, died May 30, 2012 at Stanley Total Living Center. A native of Gaston County, he was son of the late Guy Aaron & Carlotta Frances Rumfelt Brittain. He was a WWII Army Air Veteran and worked as a Superintendant with Pharr Yarns. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Young at Heart Club in McAdenville. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM, Friday at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont Bumgardner Chapel with Reverend Buck Harper and Chaplain Beth Brittain officiating. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park with military rites by the Gaston County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-7:30 at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont. Survivors include his daughter & son in law, Lisa & Sammie Atkins of Gastonia; grandchildren, Ashley Efird, Brittany Atkins & Allison Atkins; numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Willie Mae Medlin Brittain, son, Lyn Eric Brittain, brothers, Mason, Lawrence, Arthur & Alvin Brittain, sisters, Alma Medlin & Betty Coley.
