Nelson Stallings was born in Orange, New Jersey. He lived in E. Orange for many years, Edison for 24 years and Piscataway for 17 years. He was employed as a Sky Cap at Newark Airport for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Newark where he served on the Senior Usher Board. Nelson Stallings passed away on January 25, 2011 in Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was predeceased by his son, Nelson "Champ" Stallings. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Stallings; son, Michael Obie Stallings (Mary); three daughters, Carol Bailey, Tiffany Overton (Jermaine) and Nelressa Stallings; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Come To Me God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So He put His arms around you And whispered, "Come to me" With tearful eyes we watched you And saw you pass away Although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
