Nicholas J. Mergo, age 76, of Sanford, Florida passed away Monday, February 14, 2011. He was born May 27, 1934 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Nicholas and Mary (Dudish) Mergo. He had served in the United States Navy and he was an Investment Representative. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation. Nicholas is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Mergo of Sanford, FL; son, Nicholas D. Mergo of Lake Mary FL; three daughters, Regina Whitehead and her husband, Robert of Palm Bay, FL, Patricia Mergo and her husband, Brian Kiel of Ponte Vedra, FL and Sylvia Decker and her husband, Steve of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Matt, Mandi, James, Jason, Bobby, Jason, Nick, Casey and Kaitlyn. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be sent to support pancreatic cancer - genetic lineage research at the Mayo clinic. Gifts should indicate they are in memory of Nicholas Mergo and designated as "pancreatic cancer research - genetic lineage". the address for donations is:
