Poughkeepsie - Norman C. Sperbeck, 85, a local resident for twenty five years and former longtime Schenectady resident, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Victory Lake Nursing Center in Hyde Park.
Mr. Sperbeck served in the U.S. Army, 519th Field Artillery, from 1942 to 1945. He went on to work at General Electric in Schenectady from 1945 to 1950. After serving a second time in the Army from 1950 to 1953, he began his career in retail sales. He worked at many department stores including Montgomery Wards, Flahs, Neisners, and J.M Fields until his retirement.
He was a Life Member of the Crum Elbow Sportsmen¯s Assoc. in Hyde Park.
Born in Syracuse on January 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Mary Agnes Archambeau Sperbeck.
Mr. Sperbeck is survived by a brother, Charles R. Sperbeck of Indian Lake, NY; two nieces, Sandra Febbie and Terry Wendell, both of Schenectady; a nephew, Thomas Febbie of Hudson; and several cousins.
There are no calling hours.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
